Meditation transforms your life as its benefits vary from physical, mental to emotional levels. We are totally blind to the critical effects the sleep has on our life and health. We do not consider sipping coffee and going a night without sleep as a big deal in our modern day of living.
We are totally desensitized to sleep deprivation and do not consider it as a big issue when it is going to affect our health.
A research report submitted over the effect of meditation reveals that about 91 % of the Insomnia patients reduce their dosage of drugs after taking up meditation and maintain a better sleep cycle.
MEDITATION AND SLEEP
As a first step the meditation soothes stress activating our nervous system. allowing better sleep, good digestion, and breathing. It acts like a 'reset' button to put you back into a normal physiological state.
Though there are varieties of meditation practices available to practice for before going to bed it is the vipassana meditation useful for those who suffer from over anxiety, and a general feeling of ungrounded. It silences worries and bad clutter from the mind.
Here you concentrate on two things. Closing your seeing into the blank and further concentrating on your breathing. It calms down the nervous system and makes you enjoy full night undisturbed sleep.

I meditate quite often before sleeping at night. I generally use those guided meditation videos available on YouTube and listen to them through ear phones. They are generally ten fifteen minutes long but can go on for longer. You really should try that out. Its a good thing that I barely ever go through a complete video because I fall asleep right in the middle every single time. It's really effective in my case.
