Just like the human body, it is a must that our laptop, netbook or desktop has an installed anti-virus on it to prevent malwares or spywares to enter the system. I got an idea that the overflowing ads on my sister's laptop might be because the anti virus installed on it which is not good in catching malwares.
I would like to ask your opinions about anti virus and what do you think works best?

Would you believe if I tell you that I'm not using any antivirus?
I haven't used any antivirus for years now from the time I switched to Apple MacBook Pro.

@toniganzon Wow! It is too much expensive. I guess, I will just wait for it to be available in an affordable price that meets the budget of an ordinary citizen.

@annierose It would depend on the specific malware concerned, but if you have any problems that you suspect may be malware then it is worth trying. Of course you could also install Malwarebytes permanently if you prefer.

I have AVG which comes with windows 10. When the free edition is through, I just install the whole system on my laptop to keep using it for some more months.

@quantum2020 It says that it is automaticall installed when we have Windows 10. By the way, have you used Windows 7 before? This will be my first time to use Windows 10 version and I wonder about the differences between the two Windows.

I swear by Norton. However, anti virus software only stops malware and trojans that might infect your hard-drive. They will not stop the stream of annoying adds that, sometimes, can drive you out of your mind. For that, there is a feature called 'Anti-Popup" which helps...to a degree.

@JudyEv I remember there is a program that can be used to check a computer. If you are familiar with logmein. It was what my ex boyfriend used whenever there is a problem with my computer. It was amazing because even he is far he can see the problem in my computer and can help me solve it.

I think maybe few people who don't install any anti-virus software for their computers, but I am one of them. I find that my computer can run better for quite a long time without installing the anti-virus software. I don't really trust those software.

@youless It is too expensive for me so I do not know if I can afford to buy any in the near future. I think it is okay for me to buy other products which maybe not as good as Apple products but still can last long.

Are you one of those who are using Apple products? I have learned that Apple products do not need anti virus at all.

Nah Im not using any type of Anti-Virus, If you know what site you are going and you are 100% sure that it is safe then what is the reason of using anti virus? anti virus will just eat some of your ram and make your computer slower which is not good specially for me as a gamer..

I am fond of reading blogs and searching information from the internet so I am not sure if one of those sites I opened before was not safe. In my opinion it is better to be safe than sorry. By the way, it is alright for me even it if eats a big part of my Ram because I do not play games.

What does given by facebook mean? I am not much into social networking sites so I think I am lagging far behind them. Did they give away copy of anti virus software before?

I use Avast as my anti-virus. I have never had any issues with the program and my computer runs great. I spend a lot of time on my computer, so it's surprising to me that this anti virus has worked as well as it has.

@annierose It is an excellent program. I've never had any issues with it. The only time I've had a mild virus, my avast got rid of it immediately. :)

Perhaps you are not having issues so far when it comes to viruses. Your anti virus must be pretty excellent.

I have antivirus in my desktop but I seldom used it. I'm using my iPad mini now and there's no need for antivirus. That's the goodness of apple products.
