Incoming President doesn't fear the Church

I'm sure the western media had shown news about him getting mad at the airport because of what he said before when the Pope visited the country. Not to mention the rape joke , which gone viral across the world. Looks like he's not going to mellow down soon since he doesn't like how most of the priest and nuns were against him during the election. Though, not every one was against him, I think they will have to get used to this kind of remarks he made, because he's not afraid to make his speech. Specially those priest who asked money to buy them cars, or involved in immoral acts. I wonder what's the church really done for the country, except continuing with the tradition. Not to mention intervenes how the country should run or how the couple for the family planning. It's really quite weird but recently I'm seeing people in social media, either quiet or just kept defending him for his sarcasm or hateful prank message. Well, it's too early to decide on what capability does he really have. But majority voted for him so nothing i can do about it.

Well I am never afraid of the church especially the Catholic Church. Why would we fear them. God didn't tell us to fear the church. It was the Spanish priests who abused and instilled fear among the people. The major corrupt entity in this country is the Catholic Church.

I don't think there is a need to fear the church. There is no reason to fear the church at all. I don't think the church should really be involved in political decisions anyway.

That's what he's saying exactly, they shouldn't intervene and get solicitation or money from the government or it's officials. but unfortunately, people are like that in the church most of the time. @lexinonomous

DU30 hated church because when he was a boy when was raped by a priest.I cannot blame him. Plus there is separation between church and state.Let us just wait and see after June 30.

He said he had a negative experience which somehow affected his thinking now. It could be true because those in the Church are not Saints. They too err because they are human. When I go to Church I don't mind about them,I just think that I go there to thank God, and say prayers to the Virgin Mary.

Hello @acelawrites well, it's a place for us sinners to say thanks, ask for forgiveness, help and repent. It's never for the saints, even saints were sinners.

Hello @Hatley you still have a few months to go before the election, be careful whom you vote, even though it's not much of a choice there.

Well he won by plurality only not the majority decision if we compute the overall number of votes. I became excited of his statement that he wants to name names of those Priests who has children. Although I was surprised when he met Cardinal Tagle I am wondering what they had been talk about.

there is a separation of the church and the state, so although the Catholic bishops say some things to the incoming president that he says are contrary to the rules of the church, i don;t think DU30 should not answer back because religion is inherent in anybody and therefore, it is our choice whom to believe or not. but in my opinion, DU30 should not act childish to those issues and instead face the real problems of the society

Ever heard of the separation between State and the Church? Duterte may be fouled-mouth but he has a point. What the president-elect is against are the religious sanctimonious hypocrites who hide behind their robes of false propriety.

I am not afraid of the church. Living for a long time here in Europe widen my horizon about our church there in the Philippines. I agree of what Duterte said that we have a hypocrite church leaders. Plenty of them live a good lives while the poor people are struggling. It would be good if instead of preaching about sins, they should help people who are in need. Just my opinion.

People have in Europe had grown up and got tired of listening to the church I think. @thelme55 I wonder why people talk less about sins. though the word of god is also important, most priest just want spice up their sermons and forget the core of preaching.
