How to disciplines your child?

If your daughter or you boy makes something naughty things, or fighting each other, or screwing your things at home, did you discipline your kids? how did you discipline them? I see now at viral, a father teach his daughter a lesson, by pretending to hit her hand with a small wood stick, he ask for a soft or hard hit to her daughter for the lesson while she is crying, at the end he only touch her daughter hand with the stick, and tell her, it was a lesson, so you will remember and didn't do naughty things like it before ... So what do you think about this?
