Have you ever worked with a Dummy Manager?

Remember in previous post about a new manager that steps in after our manager who belongs to the company's founding team left us? Yes the one we had now is just a dummy. He cannot do anything to protect his people. All he an do is to said yes to his friend who hires him and happen to be in the executive department. When 2 of my colleagues left all he can say is just "OK" without even trying to ask what the problem is. Those two employees have been there for almost 5 years with clean records and then suddenly wanted to leave the company? If his friend who has not direct supervision to our team can just bypass him and treat some of us like a peace of trash, he cannot do anything about it. Unlike the one ewe had before.

Changing managers can be tough, particularly as the new one seems to have little knowledge about what is required of the job, give it a few months and I can see the company removing this manager particularly if they are not performing.

The HR already know about his attitude when the first two colleagues left the company together. But he is the assistant director best friend and it is this person that put him there. He seems to terrorize the department heads that he can control and when that person leaves he would put somebody in his circle of friends. Only this one does not know how to manage his people and seldom you can see him in the office. If he is in the office he is physically there but mentally not. We often hears him talking to his outside clients whom he is has the consultancy job.

@Bluerain25 What you are saying is a condemnation of this person's management style (or lack thereof).

I guess he hasn't found his grounding yet in the new position. If he is worthy of the position, he will get his act straight. Otherwise, there is always a next one....

He is already there for more than a year already. the longer he stays the more of us leaving the company. Another one left last week and I can sense more is going to leave.

No one of us his subordinates likes him. There are some who goes along with him but only if he is around. I really miss the one we had before where we can approach if we need some piece of advice be it work related or not he is always there. If there is some misunderstanding between us his subordinates, you can rely on him to take action to sort that out.
