On The Road to recovery....

I just thought I would give you all a bit of an update on my Dad.. He had open heart surgery last week to repair two heart valves that were not working and were severely affecting his quality of life... he is 86 years young... He is very very weak and tired ... but is doing well and is on the road to recovery ... all be it very slowly... he was moved from critical care to an intermediate care ward... where he was still monitored quite a lot.... his blood pressure is a bit up and down... but otherwise he is doing well.... After a hectic couple of days travelling back and forth around the country... I visited with my Dad twice... and was pleased that he seemed to be doing well ... and was in good spirits... the doctors said they were going to move him again... but that they wanted to move him to the local hospital, where my Dad lives..., and were waiting for a bed to become available... In the mean time I have travelled back to spain.... I got an update last night to say that a bed had become free and he was transferred late yesterday afternoon and was comfortable and settlling into his new surroundings... this hospital is in their own home town... so margret his wife will not have far to travel... unfortunately it is a long way from my brother ... so his visits will be reduced... but the doctors say that may be a good thing, as my father needs rest and sleep ...to promote healing in his body..... so a reduction in people visiting will help this to happen.... So this is all very encourageing news.... I dont think they would have transferred him if they had had any concerns.... so I just thought I would bring you up to date ... and to thank you all for your thoughts and prayers they are very much appreciated....
