Appearances Can Be Deceiving...

I had noticed the berry growing a couple days ago. It was slightly pink, not quite ready to harvest. I had to bide my time. Today I checked on it and it was red and ready to be plucked. I bent down, gently grabbed it...and then jerked back. Although the strawberry looked beautiful from my angle, the underside had been completely eaten away by some bug. All that was left was a shell. I managed to find another strawberry and snatched it up. It wasn't 100% ripe, but I didn't want to wait for that bug to come back and gyp me out of another prime piece of fruit! Appearances can be deceiving, just like the painted strawberry-rock nestled among our strawberries. Not everyone or everything is as it seems. I guess that's why they say to never judge a book by its cover. Share with me. When have you been fooled by the outward appearance of something...or someone?

Is that what it is? Ug. I guess that makes sense. Only maybe it's not slugs attacking our strawberries...I've seen many, many snails in our front yard. Dang it. I'm going to have to battle for our berries now!

Darn pesty bug. Do you have a bug repellent for your plants? Not that I know off to answer your question.

No. I probably need to get some chickens. Or ducks. Ducks like to eat slugs and snails...

It's too bad I can't trick the bugs with our strawberry rock. They'd be all like, "Ew, this thing is inedible!" and then they'd think all the other strawberries were bad, too, and leave them alone. Ah, if only it worked like that!

That's true. The Presidents are the biggest and best example of deceptive covers!

I think the painted rock is awesome. I've had painted wooden apples in my apple tree, maybe I should have some rock/strawberries too!
