I was in two branches of service. Join the Navy at the age of seventeen.Did my stint and then got drafted in the Korean War Conflict.I did not see any action. For us and many of us stand guard to protect our wonderful country. Please take the time to say thank you for our veteran's They kept us free and the country. Many people are too busy kicking off the summer to do the fun things. Without them. You are not able to do this. We love our veteran's and they deserved a big thank you and respect. Have a Happy Memorial Day Thank you.Ray Charles says it all.
From THE DICK CAVETT SHOW. September 18, 1972.

Thank you for your service to our country. Whenever I see service people around here, I always stop to thank them. They need to have our gratitude. And so do their families!

@amadeo That's great! I mostly see them at the grocery store or Walmart. And in speaking with some of the men in our building, I've learned that quite a few served in VietNam. My heart breaks for the problems that war gave them.

Thank you sir, because you volunteered and were drafted against your will. Yet, you still served your country proudly. I only volunteered and cannot even imagine being drafted. You showed us a better way.

Thank you for your service. My Dad served in Korea too. (there should be a "salute" emoticon). You are right. We would not have any of the freedoms we have w/o the men who served. I have never served, but I was born on Veteran's Day, and that's very special to me.

Thank you for serving our country @amadeo . The song by Ray Charles has always been one of the better ones. It does upset me when people use this 3-day weekend just for barbecue's, drink parties, etc and forget what it is really suppose to be for. My mom use to go to the VA hospitals and play guitar and sing for the veterans and not just on this holiday.
