I met one of my friends from Bubbs!

@GlassGirl has been talking with me about going to her class reunion not very far down the highway from where I live. We made plans for us to try to get together on Monday the 30th of May, but she surprised me by coming in early!
I was taking my daytime nap when something woke me up. I had no clue what woke me up, so I checked out the front door and found nothing.
I was hungry so I fixed a plate of new baby potatoes and pork loin cooked in a sauce and ate it. I was starting up my pc when the phone rang and it was her!
She was at the Walmart here in town! I ask her to let me shower and then we could meet where ever she wanted. She chose to meet at Braum's.
We were there talking for over four hours! I believe we both had a good time! There were many stories and much laughter shared between us...
Some of you may remember the last Christmas I participated on Bubbs. One of my friends there made the Christmas present I gave to Pretty that year. The image with this post is of that Christmas present.

@carebear29 That would be a good reason for me not to recognize what you are using here from Bubbs, then, but it wouldn't answer the question about why my pc knows your name on myLot unless I am correct and I have spoken to you, here.

Yeah, it seems like people were getting mixed up as to what her name was there and what her name is here... I kept reading back through what I wrote and couldn't figure out how I caused the confusion with everyone... (It was literally bugging the heck out of me, too! I must have re-read what I wrote twenty times, at least, before I gave up and quit trying to figure out what caused the problem!)

@DaddyEvil Why are you confused? You said you spent four hours talking to GlassGirl and I said you must have been having a good time (to talk so long). Is that confusing? I don't think you're as confused as I am - now!

She is/was the first person I have known online that I have met offline! The meeting went very well!

If I hadn't been fairly sure of the outcome, she wouldn't have been given my street address in the first place and I wouldn't have actually gone to Braums by myself to meet her... I like to play at being silly! (grinning at you both!)
Have either of you ever met with someone in real life after you met them online first? Was it a good experience? (curious.)

I am trying hard to figure out who you were in Buibblews? I give up! I was also one of the pioneers in Bubblews . . My username was the same as I have here - Julito. Many fellow bubblers called me funny Julito because of my funny stories.

Some of my friends there were Nameless, WhoIAm, Bearnana, SmilePie, nadelma, LadyDuck, MysD, MakingCents, RKFinnell.... that's all I can think of offhand.

Yes, she has macular degeneration. She can't focus on print very well because the vision is deteriorating from the center out. Other than her vision, she seems to be doing fine.
We had a very good time visiting at Braums and then again when she was getting ready to head back home. She stopped by the Walmart where I work and visited for a half hour/45 minutes before heading for home.
I really like her!

@vandana7 Yes, that was my initials and my son's initials. I was thinking about him when I signed up for Bubbs.
I'm positive we never met on Bubbs. My pc would have told me if I had already spoken with you when I met you here. It didn't.

Nope, not a member, but that is totally cool. I finally met someone from MyLot (actually I met her on Bubblews, but we connected here) and I might mess up her name, I believe it is @gr8nana and I actually now visit her area at least once a month, but we always meet somewhere and unless her daughter is home to take her, we can't get together. I told her to let me know next time her daughter is available, would love to see them both again.

Thank you! I was extremely happy with it when I received it via the mail and Pretty loved it when I gave it to her for Christmas!

Are you talking about Whome? I know you visited with her quite a bit and her name is Jen or Jenny. I never ran into a WhoIAm, but Whome I knew from another writing site I joined in 2007. Jen is still active on that site to my knowledge, although we don't get paid for writing there, but we do get paid in gift points for reviews given to others. If I remember right, she's from out west and her husband is Kurt or something like that.

No, Whome was the woman who had the red haired avatar on Bubbs, didn't she? She worked as a waitress or customer service, right?
Yes, Kurt is right, I believe.
WhoIAm started out on Bubbs with this LONG username but locked herself out of her account after about a month or so, then came back as WhoIAm. She liked to take pictures of funny things she saw while shopping or while driving down the road and writing posts about them. She also showed pictures of other stained glass items she made. Some she kept for herself and others she sold.
She was on Bubbs at odd hours for most people because she delivered papers from about 2 am until she finished. It could be different times of the day when she got done.

@MarshaMusselman Yeah, I know what you mean... Some people seemed to stick in my mind longer than others, along with different facts about them....
I am sure WhoMe was in some type of service work and I know her avatar had red hair. She did switch it back and forth with something else, but IDK what that was. People stay with me longer than things.
The more I am interested in a person the longer I remember facts about them, as well. (Some people, like Bearnana, I can tell you where he lived, how old his daughter was and what he did for a living according to the last post he wrote on Bubbs.... ) Other people will pop back up in my memory if someone tells me their avatar/username... Others are already lost forever.

@DaddyEvil Okay, I never knew WhoIam before or since then here as her current persona. I don't remember the color of whome's avatar, but a lot of times she'd use an image with a coffee cup, I'm thinking. And, she may have done both waitressing and customer service, but I don't really remember any longer.

Yes, it sure was wonderful to meet her! I had heard so many horror stories from people on WebAnswers who had met someone they knew online and didn't get along with them in real life that I was honestly scared to meet her!
I even told her I was so nervous my mouth kept going completely dry and cottony! That is part of the reason she decided we should meet at someplace that wasn't my home, in case we didn't get along in person!
I am quite happy to hear you have gotten along well with everyone you've met in person after meeting them online first! Thanks!

@CRK109 My original name on Bubbs was RJBRES, but I did add Robb and DaddyEvil when they allowed us to add more than our sign up name.
I think we can learn a real sense of people online, too. I have often talked with people online and then broken down what I've learned about them and given them a breakdown of their personality... Not one time have any of them ever said I was wrong and when they had real life friends who were also on the same site, those friends said I pegged that person as if I had known them for years.
Part of that is because I like people so I try my best to pay attention to what they tell me about themselves. Part of it is attributable to my very good memory for details.
I am happy to know that you and your husband found each other! Your search (even though you weren't searching) means your time was not wasted, after all!

@DaddyEvil I actually met my husband online, so I guess you could say we were pretty successful in meeting people from the internet! lol I don't know which one of us was more scared the day he flew up here. After I picked him up at the airport, we went right to a restaurant for some food, conversation and just to see if we got along at all. Our waitress thought we'd been together for years! And we met some other friends that were the same way. So yes, there are horror stories and everyone needs to be careful. But mostly people are good and I think we can get a pretty good sense of who someone is by the quality of conversations online. Did you have the same name over at Bubbs? I was very active over there but I don't remember your name at all!

LOL! Yes, I saw that you had been talking with her, too, Adam.
She has a lot of difficulty reading. I believe her vision is slowly going from the center out. She can still drive, but she gets migraines when she tries to read.

Oh that's so cool you got to meet a friend in person! Four hours is a good sign that you all had a blast. I'm not sure of all the names I came across B . . . some I got to know better than others but it's very possible we crossed paths there. And perhaps we have already crossed paths here.

Yeah, we got along fantastic at Braums, Later, when she headed back home, she stopped at the Walmart where I work and we talked for quite a while more, too.
She wanted to take Pretty and I out for dinner, but we hadn't talked about that so I hadn't ask Pretty if she wanted to go... You know how she is, so I had to turn the invitation down.

That picture is only a few weeks old. She just had the side of her head shaved short. She donated enough hair from that one side to make two wigs for someone with cancer.

I don't think she had very many followers on Bubbs. Mostly we just talked with the people that were in the same group as we were. If someone new came to one of my bubbles, I might add them to the group I interacted with, but that didn't happen very often there.
I do tend to move around a lot more on myLot than I ever did on Bubbs!
