Do you think having many small apps can slow down your Android phone?

I have been using Android phones from quite some time. I have observed that in the more recent versions like KitKat, Lollipop and Marshmallow, number of apps is only limited by the memory(internal and/or external). What do you think?
Edit: Even though memory is sufficient(say in recent phones where internal storage itself is in 20 GBs), do you think a phone can be slowed down by sheer number of apps in more recent versions of Android? Share your experience!

It's not what i think but it is a fact. Android phones and all other smart phones work like a computer. everything you store in it like applications, softwares, etc eats up memory.

I wanted to ask if installing many apps shows a difference in your mobile as compared to having less number of apps, assuming that the memory is sufficient.

@gameshire it depends on how many memory one app can consume. now if you are going to have apps with 1gigabyte each then it would make a difference with people who have many apps with only 10megabyte each.

@toniganzon Yes and also nowadays apps tend to run in the background, further slowing things down when running many apps!

Sometimes the problem with android apps is the fact that they stay open even when you have finished with them and the number of active apps can drain resources. I frequently close all apps just to free memory.

I guess so, the memory is filling up and it slows the processing
