I have been seeing the previews on the History Channel and decided to check out the remake of the miniseries Roots.
It started last night and I have to say, it's very good. I can't wait to see the next episode tonight.
Anyone else tuning in? What do you think about it? Did you watch the original mini series?

I have absolutely no interest in this remake of something I have have seen. Highly unlikely it can even begin to surpass the original. I already know everything that will happen so no drama.

@kellyr634 I saw Roots back in the 70s. It was okay. There was also Roots II with Marlon Brando making an appearance.

I saw it years ago. Turns out the whole thing was made up by Alex Haley and pretty much not true. He was also sued for plagiarism and settled out of court as far as I can find. So bear this in mind while you watch it. Yes, it is good and has a good cast but be aware of the truth behind the story. One thing to note is there is no mention of Irish slaves in the show.

Yes you are correct there is no mention of Irish slaves. This is because the movie is about African slaves.
And yes I am aware of the history of the book and the original miniseries. The show is awesome, regardless if the background was exaggerated.
