I know I just put up a discussion, but I logged into FB and found a message. From a man. Facebook says we are friends, but I have no clue. He started stupid lovey dovey talk. I blocked him. This is nuts. I am glad he cannot find me here!

Blocking is the best thing. Ignoring someone is the next best. I have someone on message who only talks about stupid things. I ask what's up. He says the sky, the ceiling, etc. I say to talk about something important. He says something stupid. I don't have time for that, so I just ignore him most of the time.

At least you know who he is. This guy just appeared. Has pictures of someone in uniform, but I doubt it is him. I do ignore people who talk too much trivia, unless it is hubby. I sort of have to listen to him.

@GardenGerty I don't really know who he is. He is a guy from Canada. I never met him and don't know why he is on my friend list. Perhaps, you need to change your FB password. Someone might be using it to do whatever.

I had the same thing happen to me. Then a few days later he was gone and I got a notification that his profile had been deleted. Some scammer I guess. The one time I decided to except a friend's request. Will I ever learn? LOL

I had to block someone here once who was inappropriate, but not necessarily romantic. I guess I got used to that stuff when I was a kid, but I feel like I am to old for this now.

Lately there are a bunch of weirdos on FB. Some are hijackings of people we know. Before accepting friend requests now, I check the profile. If it is less than a year old and shows no friends I deny request.

I am getting a lot of these again. Guys, often in foreign countries. Maybe have one of my friends as a friend. She is not a person whose judgement I trust, though.

It is weird but funny. I know they are trying to find lonely old women to take advantage of, but it will not be me.

@GardenGerty Nor me. I have Skype and I get hit a lot by 'lonely' men, most of them in uniform. I just block and hit spam and never see them again.

I get actual EMAILS for this sort. I don't know how they find me. The same with Skype, friendship requests with lovey dovey messages. What surprises me is that sometimes they are women who assume I am a man. I don't know how they find us.

I get the e mails as well, 'my dear". I know that those actually come from doing some surveys and offers.

Oh dear, that would upset me no end. I'm anonymous on FB with a fake name.

That's the good thing about FB, you can block a stupid person at anytime and even if he finds you here you can also block him at anytime.

That is a really positive response. Yeah. He is only on the other side of the computer. The one time I had to block here was for a different reason.

This is about the third time stuff like this has happened. They always say the saw my profile picture and I am pretty, what a laugh. I need to put some random picture up instead.

I do not remember ever getting a friend request from him. No it is not someone I know. I accepted someone else because my friend was in his list, but turns out she did not know him either. I also had to block him. It is nutz.

Do you know what your privacy settings are in Facebook? Make sure you have things set so the only people who can contact you are your FB friends. That's how I have things set and I've never had a problem.

I do not have a fb account and I know I must be the last one on earth not to have one, but this is one of the reasons I will not take the plunge, but I guess I am not worried anyone hitting on me, lol.

I have one friend that only communicates that way. My daughter in law and my son in law keep me up on the family through it. Now that I have moved to this very small town it is how everyone communicates. I have not been on it very long.
