What kind of the traditional fans in your countries?

Summer is already coming. The weather is hot as hell until November here. But nowadays no one would think of traditional fans when they want to enjoy the cool air, but air conditions. So I almost forget them. It reminds me of lots of memories in childhood. I loved collecting traditional fans when I was a little girl. There were many kinds of fans, which were folding fans, circular fans and lup etc. One of my favorites was a sandalwood fan with beautiful carving and special aroma. I thought holding a fan was quite elegant and charming. 
Obviously, I was not the only one to think like that. Chinese fans were one of popular export goods with thousand years, which they were mainly sold to the West. Considering market's interest, the art style of Chinese fans were created for catering for westerners' aesthetic taste more or less that was usually with a kind of Europeans' own imagination about Chinese style. Interestingly, you can see a kind of style that is "East meets West" from these fans.
