If It Isn't One Thing It Is Another

Yesterday I received my pension money which went into my bank account. I got some groceries, paid the co-pay on meds, and we ate out yesterday so there were several transactions on my account. I followed a link and went over to Facebook to play a game. A bunch of the usual pop ups started happening and I accidently clicked on one that was having me buy some cards for this one game which I didn't want. It was a mistake on my part. So, I immediately called Paypal which is where I have such things taken out. I only had 29 cents in my account but when there isn't enough it goes to my bank account for the funds. Ugh! They started a dispute.
Then I called the bank. The nice gal there started a dispute but told me she couldn't do anything until it showed up on my account. I checked it several times last night and nothing.
So, this morning(Thursday)I checked and the $19.71 is pending in my bank account. I called the bank. They said it has to go out of pending before they can take it off. Now I am in arrears in my bank account a total of -$19.71. And,I could be charged a overdraft fee of $36. I asked her about this and she put a note on so hopefully I won't be charged.
Now I play the waiting game.
Have you ever made a silly mistake like this that could potentially cost you?

@celticeagle
Well of course you will stress about it until you see the plus in your account.

I probably won't either but I still stress about it until I see a + instead of minus in my account.

They shouldn't charge me. I have the times and dates of when I called them.

@just4him ...They better not or I will be mad. I did all I could to contact them and take care of it. They had to wait until it wasn't pending anymore so it's on them to get it there so I can finalize this.

Gads. That is terrible. I give him one of those debit cards you have to fill with money. Give him an allowance in there and that's it.

Yes! I entered the Publishers Clearinghouse contest online and they told me I had bought a Superbowl Mug!! I called and disputed it, and they cancelled the order.

Have to read the fine print on stuff. Seems like they are filled with a lot of gimmicks.

@DeborahDiane ....Yes, and do our homework. Read up on the ones we don't recognize on the label. Watch Mike Moore's docs too.

@celticeagle - That is soooo true! We really have to read the fine print on anything we think about buying.

It sure does. But then when I calm down and think about it I realize there is a method to their madness.

The amount is STILL in pending status and can't do anything until it comes out of that. Probably tomorrow.

It won't be resolved quickly. I didn't get any over charges and will just stay on the rest of it until it is taken off.

I have been charged an overdraft fee from my bank once in the 9 years I had the account open (15 years now). The account was opened when I was 9 and I overdraft when I was 18. The bank refused to wave the overdraft fee even as it was a mistaken purchase just as you made. Only when I threatened to close my account did they agree to wave the fees. Just stand your ground. Your bank is supposed to work for you not against you. You never truly made the purchase so I would find it unfair.

That is good. Usually it is my mistakes. Sometimes they take it off for me. Just my miscalculation. No, I did make the purchase but, it was a mistake.
