Sorry I was MIA yesterday. Our weekly local miniature golf tournament ran late, and by the time I got home all I felt like doing was scrubbing the suntan lotion off and falling into bed. I'm back...breaking the bank, apparently . #7: Rainy Days and Mondays I know that seems like an odd choice after a Grandpa Jones song and a Meat Puppets song. Their song selection might not have always been great (to this day I cannot get over them covering Klaatu's "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft"), but DANG Karen Carpenter could sing. (And, let's face it, most of us would never have heard of the band Klaatu had the Carpenters not covered "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft"!!) The Carpenters were from an era where "pop" was called "easy listening," and that is pretty much what it was: when you needed a break from rock or country, you put on a Carpenters album. And I truly believe in 50 years nobody will be listening to Taylor Swift or Beyonce, but they will still be listening to the Carpenters. Rainy Days and Mondays Written by Paul Williams and Roger Nichols Recorded by the Carpenters From Carpenters, 1971 Listen to the wonderful voice of Karen Carpenter:

It is easy to mock the Carpenters but you are right in that their songs will long be remembered. Close to You and above all, We've Only Just Begun are standards forever.

I had a feeling this might make the cut. Their music was timeless.

I've never heard Creed. Not my type of music.
