The age of independent animation

Just watched a lot of videos on youtube. I have noticed a lot of independent animation lately and some of them might give Dreamworks and Pixar a run for the money. With the rise of modern technology these people can freely distribute their work. So what do you think will this independent animators form a company of their own to brave the world of business or will they be recruited by bigger and more experienced companies?

Big leap starts with small step. They should be part of the senior company and gain some experiences before attempting to run an independent company.

Depends, some companies are just startups composed of people with little to no experience and they do okay. Have you heard of Rooster Teeth?

@Shahey Check them out, they're a new company with some pretty decent animations and they might be making millions didn't check. Their CFO is 23 or 24 I think.

Bigger companies have money and the very first thing they'll do is to buy out competitors.

There's a lot of entertainment stuff in You tube and I'm constantly amaze at the creativity and ingenuity I come across.. Some will probably use their creation to bolster their resume.. But I don't think there will be a lack of people taking their place. Just like self-publishing, big companies no longer have a monopoly on marketing the creative efforts of the individual.

My point exactly when people can distribute and publish their for free. This removes the power of the bigger and more older companies and unless they adapt to the shift and change they may get replaced by the young ones.
