Another Thing About Writing on myLot

I thought that the primary purpose of myLot was to DISCUSS different subjects and interact with others.
Sometimes, when I go to “Most Recent Discussions” to find a new post, I look for something interesting that might develop into a discussion, back and forth, with someone who has a different point of view about some issue or someone who can add to what someone else has already written.
Mostly what I find is just posts and when I respond, I get no answer in return, so no real discussion takes place. I enjoy an exchange of thoughts from others, so that I can expand my thinking on different subjects, as well as add to my knowledge of a person, place, or idea.
In addition to that, if someone is on here to make money, they need to realize that just posting something and then ignoring comments is NOT the way to get the most out of this site.
There needs to be an interchange of ideas and thoughts and a lively discussion of things, so that everyone can LEARN and EXCHANGE IDEAS and MAKE FRIENDS in other countries and just ENJOY discussing things of interest.
What do you think?

I hate it when I respond to a discussion and the original poster doesn't enter into a discussion, clearly they are unaware of the purpose of this site. That said one time I educated a new used by mentioning a bunch of other users, describing how they could help the discussion, of course many of those I mentioned did pick up the discussion and continue it. Sadly it is not possible to do this for every new user post, the content of that one was interesting though.
You are right that we have to learn and exchange ideas in order to be successful here, that way we make friends from across the globe.

Absolutely! I like learning from other people, especially about where they live and what they think on different issues. I'm always looking for new discussions that MEAN something. Share what you know and add to what other people post. That's what makes this site work for everyone's benefit.

You can say I am a guilty person because I do not respond to most comments on my posts. Why? There is nothing to say to most comments. You answer a "thank you" with a "thank you"? Very few comments can trigger a lively conversation.

@JohnRoberts Posts need to be more interesting and able to "spark" discussions. That's what works here. Annie Roberts said "We are all lighthouses shining outcross a thousand tomorrows. We are all beacons of hope drawing strength from one another."

Take it easy now. LOL Don't get too angry. People will be people. They wont' earn much if they don't interact, so that will be their fault.

@trivia79 LOL. So what do you do in El Segundo, California? Not exactly sure where that is. I'll have to find it on my map.

It is 100% true that if you want to make money you have to make and respond to interactive discussions. You get paid for responses as well as just the post. It is nice when a discussion goes back and forth. I've had a few go on and on back and forth and it becomes quite fun after awhile.

Yes, that is the fun of it, to discuss things back and forth, to get others opinions on different subjects and get others to add to the discussion. I like "Fun Facts" and I'm always asking others for what they know about a certain place or a certain person or a movie. Trading ideas and giving additional information is refreshing.

I try to spend MORE time interacting than I do posting. To me, that's what this site is all about and as long as you do that, you will automatically EARN more. Keep the discussions lively and informative and add what you can to the mix.

I agree. You have a very good point. It would not seem right if the discussion your post would not get any responses. You will be blind on what others think of the idea that you have. This site truly is a good venue for people to know more about people considering that members are from different countries.

@IreneVincent Yes. A lot of people are always on the go and thinks so much but in the end, we just want to be happy. Nothing compares to being heard and talked to.

This web site is just the right thing for a person to feel part of a "community" of writers, story tellers, travelers, and all sorts of other aspects. We all need to offer our best efforts to COMMUNICATE with each other because having "friends" makes a person happier.

Hey Kimberley, it's so nice to see you on here. How is your lovely family doing? I've had a few health issues, but I'm dealing with them for now. It's always something when you get to be my age.

Yes, that's what I enjoy about this site. I go to "Most Recent Discussions" and look for something interesting, that I can "jump" into the discussion. I just wish there were more interesting posts to do that with.

@coffeebreakwhatever Well, it's almost midnight again. It seems that I am staying up late again all the time. I will have my 12 year old great grandson first thing in the morning, so I had better get to bed.
I didn't find any really interesting discussions. Did you see any of my coloring pictures I posted?

I find a lot of discussions are not of interest to me and sometimes I do not understand what is being said. I like a discussion that is different in nature then the same old How are you or I make so much today. Come on let's have a good discussion that is different.

I agree. Let's write about what's going on in our part of the world and how we FEEL about it. Let's talk about interesting places to visit near where we live and share historical information that might be of interest to others.
This, to me, is a writing site, a place where we can improve our writing skills by challenging ourselves to write more and more interesting articles. We can "pretend" to be the news writer for our local or national newspaper, or "pretend" we are covering the latest BIG story that is happening in our part of the world.
We can write about famous people that perhaps were born in our country, or who now lives there. We can write about so many different things while we practice our writing skills, our descriptive abilities to tell a good story.
I'm not interested in a whole lot of what is written here, so it's difficult to respond to mundane posts that offer very little for the intellectual minds that surely must crave more content.

I agree a lot of what is written here is not of much interest but give me something I can dig into and I am happy as a lark.

@Marcyaz Yes, I always have enjoyed a lively discussion and sometimes I write about controversial subjects.
What I don't like is when a person gets angry because my opinion is different from his/hers. There's not a lot of that on here, but it happens from time to time.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and it's not a BAD thing. It's not something to get angry about. I think its exciting to discuss differences of opinion. It broadens our knowledge and thinking on many subjects.
It stimulates our brains in other directions and makes us THINK about something in a different way. That has to be good for the brain, don't you think?

So true. I always look at my "notifications" and try to respond to every comment. I want to read what they have to say and create a back and forth discussion. I spend a lot of my time on here responding but I also try to write interesting articles that others would want to read.
It's both aspects that make the site work. well for everyone.

What do I think? I think there are those who just want an easy way to make a little money online or online friendly exchanges. Any more than that in discussion might seem forced. What many want are short easy to read posts and comments pleasant and enjoyable.

I pretty much agree though admit to liking the financial reward. But those discourses back and forth you seek are actually beneficial toward earnings because the more you interact the more you earning so a person can enjoy the best of both worlds following your perspective.

What about responding to someone`s discussion and something you`re sure need a proper answer and you get maybe 6 words for an answer.I don't like it 1 bit and it seems there are members who are good at it,it`s like they are in a hurry to move on and my answer is kind of wasting their time.
I'm not saying I'm better, l try to answer discussions the best l can,a discussion need me to write more, l do,a discussion don't need much of input from me,well.

I like to read other people's posts, so I always go to the "Most Recent Discussions" and scroll through those, looking for something that I find interesting and that I can comment about and perhaps ADD to the discussion, but truthfully, I'm not finding much at all.

Yes, I've learned quite a bit on myLot about different places and others points of interest. I LOOK for interesting posts on "Most Recent Discussions" and the ones I like reading, I respond to and try to find out more or perhaps I can ADD something to what has been posted.
