I Know Its Not Christmas

But Jeff @moffittjc wrote a discussion about going to NYC and paying his respects at the 9/11 Memorial in New York. I haven't been to NY since 9/11. His discussion and his description of what he saw and how he felt moved me. It makes me want to see it myself. It also reminded me of my youth when my mother would take me on the train to NYC for a day. We always went in late fall, right after Thanksgiving just to see the fabulous decorations around the City of New York. We would walk 5th Ave. We enjoy the decorations in the windows and would go inside to see the spender inside as well. We would wander around Macy's just because and we did very little shopping. We were there to see NY full of Christmas. We would eat at a favorite restaurant of my mothers and then go to Radio City to see the Rockettes dance Have you ever seen them? They were fantastic. Click on the first video on this link and see just how beautiful and talented they are.
From the beloved Wooden Soldiers, to the dazzling Snow scene, to the unforgettable Living Nativity, it’s the best of the season in one spectacular experience. Tickets on sale now!

I have only seen the Rockettes on TV but they do seem to be fabulous. I have been to New York but it was many years ago.

No I have no plans to go but I think maybe in the fall my husband and I should go for a few days and see the sights. Perhaps with friends, the more the merrier.

I've never been to NY, but your description makes it sound entrancing. I remember GreatMartin did a great article about it some time ago too.

I have never seen them, but I hear they are wonderfully entertaining--the last time I was in NY was with SF Symphony--they took us, the chorus, and we got to sing at Carnegie Hall---that was quite something!

It is fun. The last time I was there i took a friend from Kansas here and she spent the day looking up, tall buildings like those in NY are not in Kansas...

Although my husband and I have not ventured to NYC, we did send our son there on a little trip when he was a teenager. He loved it, he took in so many different venues and saw so much.

For the first time in all the years I've visited NYC, I finally went to the Macy's store in Manhattan and walked around and browsed! It was on Memorial Day, so they had some fantastic deals! I had fun walking through the famous store! Too bad I couldn't be there when they do the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!

@PainsOnSlate I agree, I love watching the parade on tv. It's an annual tradition in my household that goes back several generations. My grandmother always watched the parade, and I remember as a little boy I would snuggle up next to her on the couch and we would just sit there and watch the parade on tv. Those were great memories!

My mother loved Macy's so we stopped there for a trinket or two every time we visited. I've never been for the Parade but I love watching it on TV.
