Anti virus software

Lately, the laptop of my cousin is having problems, it is getting slower. There might be a virus, I do not have idea nowadays what is good and effective. What can you recommend? Thanks

Avast, AVG and Malwarebytes all have free versions and all are good.

Sometimes when I have an anti virus that is the time that I am getting the virus, I do not know why.

Anti Virus will eat so much of your ram that will make your computer more slower, my computer doesnt have anti virus

The shop that made my computer said that Kaspersky is the best. I'm not sure if they have a free version but I was happy to pay for the peace of mind it gives me.

Does he ever go to delete his browsing data, cookies, temp files etc.? Sometimes computers slow down because they are stuffed with cookies and files. It might help to run MalwareBytes to see if there is any junk on there. Or another program that is similar.
