In India traditions breath comfortably sometimes not next to technology as most of them are well founded by superstitions that are supported in later years as true by technology and logic. Thus, the usage of word ;superstitions' appears to be unpleasant to hear At times, we question age-old practices, while others accept them unwittingly. All superstitions at one time were carefully thought scientific procedures. Here are some ancient practices supported by logic, behind them. Do not step out during eclipse --Preventing loss of eyesight Do not sleep with your head facing the North--preventing cardiovascular diseases A girl should not do certain things while she is menstruating--Giving women time for rest Do not go near a Peepal tree in the night--avoid inhaling Carbon dioxide Using Lemon and Green Chilies to avert evil eye--Encouraging consumption because they are rich in several nutrients Bathe after attening a funeral ceremony--Preventing infection Do not cut nails after sunset--In the absence of light-- one might get hurt Sweeping the floor during the evening brings bad luck--something important might get swept away in the dark With the passage of time they became more esoteric and only rituals were propagated. not the reasoning behind them.

But some superstitions still have no justification to them Not touching pickle, not watering plant, going to a temple while you are menstruating Stopping on the road when a cat crosses the road Getting a hair cut only on Sundays Stopping for a while if you sneezed just before you head out of your home None of it makes sense to me!

I think they got some meaning or purpose behind them. We can not consider them as thrash just because we are not finding any logic behind it. We have to try find out the logic. It is the difference between a German, and Russian Scientists and other scientists including Indian Scientists. Indian Scientists negate their own saying carried away by the statements of others. The conceiving through Test Tube was mentioned in THE GREAT EPIC OF MAHABHARATA. The science after a research of 25 years could establish the validity and correctness of it. This is the situation not only with the Indian Superstition (as we call them now) but also with all superstitions of other Religions and countries. The elders or ancestors made a thorough study of these things and established them. We are propagating them as superstitions only not with the logic behind them. This is a sorry state of affair.

If the reason is known and established the custom should be followed as a good procedure no more as a custom or superstition. Also when logic and reason behind are known, so.e of these customs don't make sense at the current world.example sweeping in evening, now we have lights, so this no more holds.
