A Relaxing Laguna Beach Sculpture

This is one of my favorite sculptures in Laguna Beach. It is made of metal; even the book on the table is made of metal. However, you can sit in the chairs and relax.
It is located in a quiet linear park that just goes from the Pacific Coast Highway to a beach view area.
Very few people stroll down this linear park and take in the view, because there is no actual beach access from the park.
As a result, this little sitting area is very private.
You would actually curl up in one of these chairs and read a real book.
What better kind of sculpture than that?

I wouldn't mind living somewhere close by there and see all this artsy stuff.

Most of these unusual ones are in Laguna Beach. This is a very artsy and bohemian community. They have many strange artistic creations there. It makes it fun to go and see all the art, but I couldn't live there. I'm too traditional.

@Marcyaz @DeborahDiane goes often, but I don't. We both live fairly close, but it's just not my style. She loves it though.

The salt in the sea air works this magic on the metal.

@MGjhaud - I love these chairs. I have actually sat in them before, but I never brought a book to read. One of these days ....

@DeborahDiane lol. I would too. I generally like to bring a book with me, when I go out, even if I know I won't get a chance to read it.

@dodo19 - No, I wouldn't try to read that metal book! LOL I'll have to bring my own, sometime.

@crazyhorseladycx - I go to Laguna Beach fairly early in the day. I'm usually there between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. Except during the July and August tourist season, you would be surprised how quiet it is, and how few people there are wandering around.

One of these days, I plan to just sit and enjoy those chairs for a while. I have sat in them, but not for very long!

It is an interesting sculpture but the chairs to me do not look comfortable to sit in at all.

@Hannihar - You are right! They are fine to sit in for a few minutes, but I could not sit there all day!

@Hannihar - Ha ha! You are right! They are mostly enjoyed for their artistic value, but I am glad they are not off-limits to the public. Anyone can sit on them whenever they want!

I see by how comfortable they do not look that I believe no one could sit it them all day long.

@vandana7 - I call it a sculpture because it was actually a commissioned work of art and not just a pair of chairs. All the parks in downtown Laguna Beach have works of art, and this is the one in this little park. I think it is especially charming.

@DeborahDiane I also thought it is copper, because the same patina formed on a copper fountain we have in the garden.

@LadyDuck - My guess is that the chairs and table are made of copper and the patina has changed as it has aged.

I didn't think the chairs would be comfortable, either. However, I sat in one, and it actually surprised me ... although I would not want to sit in one all day!

@DeborahDiane I would love to have it in my yard, but the metal, when heated by the sun, could burn my tushie!

@DeborahDiane I love brick, especially "used" brick. When it is arranged artistically, then it's really pretty.

When I read your title and saw the photo, I ws going to ask if this was functional art. It pleased me to read that I could sit in these chairs.
