Choosing A Name

How do you choose your child's name? I have five children. The eldest is Graciellee, a combination of the names of my three students. Next is the twins, whom I named Klynne and Krissia. I did not expect that I'm going to have twins so I prepared a name for a male, Kelvin Kline and female, Krissia. These are brand names of clothes, although I changed the spelling. So when they were born, I just changed Kelvin Kline to Klynne. Next is Sashawnee. I got this from the production staff of the movie that I have watched during the time that I was pregnant with her. The youngest is Hans Schanni. Hans is a scientist while Schanni is the son of Johann Strauss, the famous waltz composer, who at the age of seven already composes songs same with his father. How about you? Do you have considerations when you choose the name of your children?

That's a nice choice. At least you added a basketball player to your husband's name. You did not really named him after his father.

I consider the meaning of the name because long time ago somebody told me that the names our parents to choose for us could actually shape our future.

I do agree with that. And sometimes, names also affect the personality of the person.

I do not have any kids but if I do, my boyfriend and I randomly talked it through. We like the name Aiden (for a boy) and Madelyn (for a girl). My boyfriend's name starts with "A" and mines "M".

So you love two names for each of your children. In my case , it is only the youngest who has two short names. I want their names to be short so that they'll have no difficulty in filling up papers. I have a long first name so sometimes I find it difficult or time consuming in filling up papers.

When that time comes, you will think about where and how you will get their names. Maybe, you'll have considerations too.

That's good. Unique names are sometimes difficult to pronounce.

I obsessed over my children names. And I don't believe any of them particularly like their names. But you try not to name them anything too outlandish and hope they wont be embarrassed by their name when they are older.

@magallon We offered to change one of our sons names, much as he disliked the name, he didn't want to change it.

@RubyHawk I think it is expensive to change a name. That's my problem also. I am using a name different from my birth certificate. I want to have a change of name but it will cost me much. I am still saving for it.

That's correct. We should choose what we think is the best name for them. Because if not, we might be blamed by our children for having names that they do not want.
