Do we depend on the Social Media for our emotional needs?

I'm describing a scene at home yesterday, which made me sit up and think. The whole family was sitting, chatting. But not to each other! Each one of us was holding our mobile phones, busy carrying out conversations with our friends in the virtual world! It made me feel rather scared. Have we lost the ability to interact in the actual world and are too dependent on social media (Whatsapp, Fb, Twitter and what not)? What will happen in future?

Yes i think so. I think that there is a dependence of this...and this is not good becouse we forget what is important...real life...and time goes by without having real memories

I don't think that social media does anything for my emotions. It's kind of boring, but I don't really use it. I more so use MyLot to fulfill those needs to be honest. Lol! Welcome to MyLot by the way. Hope you are enjoying it here.

This is a common scene, few years ago people would be hooked to TV, now they are to mobiles. I see this trend going up only in future.

@DLashmi I think the elders of the house need to lead by example. They should first stop getting hooked to.mobiles while having lunch or dinner.

Its time we took conscious steps to get rid of this addiction. The question is "how"

We should set some time for social network sites. An hour max..one solution I thought is not to install apps instead use the web pages..this way we can be away from notifications.
