Florida, No AC

I don't know how some people do it. @patgalca . My AC broke on Friday of all days. I had it serviced that day but I had already known it was going to need a full replacement. Suffering through mid-summer heat and now we have a tropical storm passing by which you would think makes it cooler. True it makes it more windy but in Florida it's the humidity that kills you. When it rains for 10 minutes it's the worst because that rain is already making its way back into the air the moment it touches ground. If you watch the mid-day rain on blacktop you can see the water vapor rise up off the asphalt, or you can watch it happen on the grass on the really hot days. I say it's like drinking water with every breathe it's so humid here in Florida.
I've never even seen snow. I love telling people this because to some people its unheard of. I'm often blown away by someone who says they have never seen the ocean.

I've never seen snow and I know exactly what you mean about water vapor rising from the asphalt. I could see it here too. My country is very humid as well. And the ocean is my life.

I'm sure you get flooding just as bad if not worse there too.

@ryanalion47 oh yeah we do. We use a motorboat to rescue people during the flood. We have storm surges and tsunami too.

@toniganzon Have you ever lost anyone you were trying to save?

It's so interesting to meet someone who has never seen snow. I live in Minnesota, which is just a 3 hour plane ride north of you, and any given time between October and April- all we have is snow (usually). We do not have oceans up here though. I had to travel to see my first ocean and I did so in Mexico. It wasn't all I expected it to be, smelled kind of fishy and there was some sea weed. Made my swimsuit stink. LOL! Sorry to hear that it's so hot in Florida right now. That's kind of par for the course, down there, isn't it? Hot and humid? Either way, hope it cools down soon for you...

We also don't have any mountains. I visit Kentucky but only in the summer time so I at least know what its like to be above the clouds and still on the ground.
You had a very very poor beach experience. I live near Clearwater Florida. It has been ranked one of the best beaches in the world many years running so I kinda take it for granted. I had a guy in one of my classes a few years back from Minnesota. He made it sound like a lot of fun, at least on his ranch anyhow.

You poor thing...How soon will you be able to get your AC fixed? I did not see the ocean until I was in college, because we lived on a Great Lake. I have seen plenty of snow, and that all my life. However, I live in VA now, and have been to the ocean many, many time.

Well if we get a break in this tropical storm rain then maybe later today. If not I'll have to see what the weather is like on Friday. It's really rough on us but my poor cat Huckleberry is suffering the most. Poor guy is laying on tile and in the sink just to try to get cool.

Having no AC here in Florida would literally kill me! I am not used to this heat at all and it is so humid. I hate it. I hope you get your AC fixed soon.

I visit Jacksonville often with my girlfriend as her family lives there. It is hot, but you don't have the humidity we get here in Clearwater. It's awesome how cold it gets up there and your summers seem shorter.

I've never been to Florida, but from everything I've read about it, I don't want to either. I live in snow country, our summers are humid, but I don't think they are as humid as yours, and I have seen the ocean - Atlantic and Pacific. I'll leave you to your weather. I would melt in that kind of humidity.
