Celebrities: Does anyone really care?

Does anyone really... truly... care about these actor and actresses enough to read magazines and silly stories of their " trip to where ever?" What is the fascination with following particular celebrities. I never understood why people follow people on instagram or why it is even fun to follow someone you'll never know. Fashion to me has always been whatever fits me anyhow. I just find it extraordinarily interesting how people like Kylee Jenner, Miley Cirus, or Justin Beiber can be such a roll model. Even though the media had always shoved these "roll models" in my face I never wanted to grow up and be like them. Good thing I didn't grow up like them as many are now having difficulty coping with there loss of fame. I never thought of myself being a very materialistic person even though I do love my video games.I don't even know what I want my girlfriend to get me for my birthday. XD P.S. As I type this I'm looking at Kylee Jenner's big lips in her add below.

Some people's lives are so devoid of meaning that they follow celebrities and live vicariously through the celebrities exploits. Others are amused at the dumb and insipid things celebrities often do and say and follow them waiting for the next big meltdown. Myself, I don't pay much attention to "famous" people unless they do something outstandingly good or outstandingly outlandish.

For me it has always been an interest. I like music so tend to pay attention sometimes not just to the music though that is my main focus but to the person themselve. Another interest has been movies since I like a good movie. However I don't idol them.

@Bluedoll I think being interested in our favorite musicians or actors is normal, but some people become obsessed, or as you say, idolize them. Then I think it becomes unhealthy and shows something is missing from the persons own life.

Lol! I know exactly what you are saying. I am not sure how celebrities are relevant to my life. I would rather hear on teh news something important - like global news, politics, etc - than hear about what the latest celebrity gossip is. I don't get it.

Sometimes I just look at the talent and entertainment value. The big industry that is the gossip columns are just that an industry.

I've never liked the celebrities you mentioned and in general they are not good role models. I do admire talented actors and singers but they are rare nowadays.

I think a lot of people are fascinated with the allure that celebrities bring. It's all an illusion most of the time.

Umm, personally I would care less about the celebrities. The only reason I pick those magazines up is if I am stuck in line at the grocery store.

I don't understand either. I 'know' them, but I don't follow their news and where they go or what happened to them. I just 'know' them because I like them in a specific movies, and I would like to watch them again. That's it.
