t truly depends on what was done and it varies from person to person. I think the punishment depends on what was done sometimes a talking and a week of privileges being taken away is fit and other times the punishment is something like earning money to repay for damages done. For the most part it works for my children.

@bacon147 Some people are against spanking but I think that sometimes it works for parents and its not our place to intervene when we don't know everything and when they aren't really hurting the child. One two even three swats with the hand on the butt isn't child abuse but some would disagree.

I was spanked as a kid, grounding didn't do anything to me, but a smack did. My older sister was the opposite, grounding did work apparently, she never needed to be spanked. Every child is different, some you just need to take away there stuff, some you need to spank, some you just need to give them the "look". If my parent's continued to ground me, I probably would have been a disrespectful, entitled thinking young adult. I don't have kids, but I help a lot with my nephews and nieces, and they are the type of kids that grounding doesn't do anything except make them act out more until you give them there stuff back.

I don't have kids of my own. Yes, I do get grounded when I was younger. It was some sort of punishment for us to realize our mistakes. It works for me though. As I get older, it taught me how to be responsible.
