Working into a record

Its glaring sun and mid 70s now. I've gotten the basics done: all outside critters have water and food. I've checked the struggling squash plants. I soaked them twice yesterday. All cats and dogs are inside. Within an hour or so the sun will pop us into the oven. Probably going to slam us into the 100 above range before this afternoon gets here. Usually we would walk the pups tonight. That's not happening. Imagine what your bare feet would feel like on a sidewalk when its 100 out. No fun for pups or humans. We humans might walk through the Goodwill instead!

Oh those poor pups having to go out on days like that. They are so blessed that you love them so much!

@CRK109 The car has air conditioning. The slow kind. Half way to town the air finally starts to cool....

@sallypup We just have to switch places. Here in Riga the temps have plunged from the upper 70s to the lower 60s and at night in the 50s. There is a north wind and it is much too cool for me. I love the heat.

@RasmaSandra Sounds like a great plan. We might get gusting winds tomorrow. That causes me to worry about fires starting up. Next week we'll have your temps.

@BelleStarr It sure has been dry lately. Wind gusts may be coming. That part worries me due to fire danger.

I would imagine the side walk would be hot on their paws.

It was around 111 or so today. Yesterday maybe 115ish depending on where you were. Between keeping the blinds closed and running the swamp cooler, things were good. Of course, we did all walking around and errands either earlier in the day or later in the day all this weekend, when possible. It's not that unusual, just a bit sudden and early this year. We had a cool streak all through May.

@Rohvannyn Does the swamp cooler act like what you are used to? We water and do most chores early and late.

@Rohvannyn Having screen doors sounds good. Dad just shut our bedroom window now that its morning and already in the 70s.

@sallypup It keeps things cool, isn't quite as loud, and the main thing it does that I don't like is it raises the humidity from about 11% to about 40%, and doesn't work as well during Monsoon. However, now that we have a front and back screen door, plus all screened in windows, so that's what we'll use there. It uses a lot less electricity!
