Do you think they were in purgatory the whole time on the island? It would explain a lot of things but I don't want to believe it. If that could be true than it could just be as well that it was all still just a figment of Hugo's imagination in the psych ward. I believe that somehow Jacob is telling the truth and they are trying to save the world. Why else would Jacob lie? If Jacob knew everything than surly he would have know if it was only just purgatory. Then Jacob wouldn't spend forever protecting the darn island. I think there must have been a kind of meaning as to why Hugo was chosen to lead the island. I don't think the island merely picked someone for its best survival. If the position means something, stands for something, than who is that person. For example, the grim reaper allowing people to pass on to heaven, or maybe an angel sent to test people's humanity. Give me your input. My favorite show!
