Raging Waters

The Summer is slow to start this year.
We had a beautiful warm week at the end of May, but it has rained every day in June.
Monday afternoon a powerful thunderstorm produced torrential rain.
The small brook in front of the house became menacing.
The racing water brought down dirt, broken tree branches and rocks from the mountain, but finally we had no damages.
You can see in my photo how it looked from our closed window, it rained too much to be able to open it.
Yesterday I have cleaned the garden from leaves and broken tree branches brought by the wind, but today is menacing another storm.
Has summer started at your place?

Summer here hasn't officially ended yet . But for the past days it's always gloomy and it drizzles only . I want rain .
But today at breakfast , hubby's auntie said it rained last night . Oh , i was so asleep , i didn't notice it . The rain may have lulled me to sleep and it wasn't hot last night , that's why also .

We had such a torrential rain three years ago.The rain was accompanied by a storm that uprooted many trees..We all in the town shut our doors and windows. The storm lasted for more than 15 minutes;but the rain continued for two days.

@silvermist It will be a humid summer if this rain continues for the next two weeks, that is what they predicted.

Your stream did turn into a raging torrent, didn't it. Our summer has started off with two Tropical Storms, both of which brought their share of rain, but nothing like you've been having. Today was a nice day after a few sprinkles early, but it got hot this afternoon.

@crazyhorseladycx I have read about the floods in the United States, we have many areas also flooded in Europe, especially in Great Britain, France and Germany. At least we had no damages here.

That is a rushing stream, I love the sound of moving water and when it rains if the windows are open or I'm in the backyard, you can hear the stream at the bottom of the ravine behind my house, But - its far away from our yard thankfully.

It is always seductive to live by a body of water, but it can become dangerous in the rain. I once live by the Cucamonga "Creek", which was no creek at all. It was a dry river bed unless it rained, then it could get ugly. So the army corp of engineers tamed it with concrete. No longer are there major floods with damage, but it doesn't do what creeks are supposed to do, move soil to the beach so that erosion does not happen there. Bummer.
Good luck with your brook and the rain.

@LadyDuck You are exactly correct. That is where Rancho Cucamonga is located. Your trip must have been after 1975, since that is when I helped incorporate and design the city. It was a fun thing to do, every empowering and educational.

@LadyDuck I was speaking too fast : rain is also expected in my place this weekend. But for today the forecast says 27°C and UV 8.
Yes, it is incredible to have had so much rain during the past months. I hope that you will have a sunny summer without a raindrop.

The brook looked very bad, I have never seen so much rain, it was even impossible to open the windows. I am not sure that summer is ready to start. I have checked the weather forecast, it seems we are going to have this kind of weather until the 19th of the month.

The stream would be fascinating to watch. Your house appeared to be high enough, out of danger but you never can be sure from just a picture.
