To get one's advantage, they play the silly games.
"Office politics" are the foolish strategies that people play to gain advantage, personally or for a cause they support. This type of peekaboo game is seen in single team also. The term often has a negative connotation, in that it refers to strategies people use to seek advantage at the expense of others or the greater good.
This is faced by me also when I was working. If superiors play office politics they we are helpless.

In my office too , they do politics in every part, really I fed off with them , but I realised one thing it can happen in every where , we need to do our job thats it , work will helps and our perfectness will show the steps of success in life, just stay away from this type of politics , if you are not deserving it then go for plenty of opportunities waiting for you

This remind me another similar term like apple polishing.
An apple polisher is someone who offer gifts and flattery
as means of attempting to achieve promotion or other purpose.

I hate office politics. They should earn rewards/promotions based on merits and not on influence.

This is really very disgusting for an employee to suffer through. The competition when becomes tough, its takes the brutal turn and the egoistic minds starts to talk rubbish to play dirty politics. Such ppl should be handled in the same way.. The language they understand better.
