I have had several books and articles published. Not novels, but scientific books and articles. A few museum catalogs too. Most of them are collaborative works. I never had a problem to find a publisher, it is usually them who are contacting me to ask me to collaborate to a book they plan. For scientific articles, it is a bit different : there are usually reading committees that can ask to do (or not) a few modifications to publish it when I submit an article to a review.

@te2000 a very small name. I am an archeologist and writing scientific articles is part of my job. I accept to do popular science writings if I have enough time, and because I think that it is also important. I also participated to two books which were not in my research domain because I was interested, and I have another one to end which has nothing to do with my job and has already found a publisher.

Tried it and did it. It's definitely a learning experience getting it ready for and then publishing.

I have had book ideas in my head, even down to the titles, but have so much trouble getting started. My head spins at the thought of formatting, indexes, choosing a publisher, etc. lol

@te2000 That is true. Not sure what holds me back. Maybe lack of confidence. But, that shouldn't stop anyone, should it?

@Katlynn noooo, you need to try and if you have a story to tell you must tell it, no one is going to write it for you!!! try and see the results

Writing is a long and hard process since you write the first word or just get an idea for a book until you have it already published. Sometimes, it can take two or three years. It is like a project you work for. Until now, I just published one, finished a second which is not yet published and I write on a third one. At the beginning, it is normal to be nervious and to feel a bit frightened, but, if you carry on with the idea, the experience is wonderfull. Once you finish, you'll want to start again with another one.

My book was published in 2012. It was a huge learning adventure. Once a book is published it becomes your business. You need to learn how to balance writing and the business side of promoting yourself. No one promotes you anymore, but if you have determination, you will do alright. I would not have traded this experience for anything, I learned so much and continue learning all the time. Get good connections with other writers and enjoy the process. Good Luck!
