There's should be a class in high school called "Thing's you should know before you turn 18" and the curriculum is basically : How to change a tire, change your oil, drive a stick. How to balance check book, do your taxes, and the pros and con's of having a credit card. How to hem pants, iron your clothes, and sew on a button. How to cook other than mac-n-cheese, how to season a pan, how to grow your own food. Basic first aid, the cost of having a baby versus the cost of having an education, ecetera.

I agree. That's another reason my children are Home Schooled, I do teach them some of these things-age appropriate of course. As they get older they will learn more and more life skills that they will need in the future.
They already know how to fish, do laundry, do dishes, and basic cooking skills-my oldest is only 10 so their on their way. =)

I don't think that's going to happen, not with schools cutting out sports and drama and art classes. Used to be they had shop and home economics that taught some of those things, but I think that those classes have been cut at most schools. Home economics might still be taught, but not the way that it was.
