All Wound Up

That's how I have been for the last couple of weeks - all wound up in yarn and making things for my niece's baby shower. Well, the gifts are now delivered and I am finding myself wondering what to crochet, or knit, or loom. I made a teddy bear, a little flirty octopus, a couple of pairs of booties (one pair in hi-top converse sneaker style) and a jellyfish with long tendrils. Well, that one is for the mother, she is the one who wanted a jellyfish. I made the jellyfish with cotton yarn, and apparently it's meant to be something you hang up for kids to dry their hands on. I really like that idea and may turn my bathroom decor all "under the sea" with lots of marine creatures hanging about. Of course, I may not do any of that as I have succumbed to the desire for a new sock loom and have ordered one which will arrive in two days. I had better get cracking on this baby sweater I am loom knitting.

I was just glad that no one else made homemade items, so at least they have that distinction.

@Rollo1 Even in a pile of homemade items these would stand out! I love the Octopus especially!

I need to do something creative at all times. Right now, it's a yarn obsession. But it could change at any moment.

Crochet can really turn my hands into giant claws and it often is painful to do - but it is so much faster than knitting or looming and it's so much easier to shape items. I had to go with crochet for the stuffed toys.

Didn't realize you're practically a neighbor. New Bedford here. Do you sell these online? Or flea markets?

No, I have never made anything for sale - well, not since I was a teen, when I sewed halter tops for friends for some pocket money. I just get wound up in making things. Mostly socks, because my feet love the comfy feeling. I am actually on the North Shore, but figured Boston was close enough for identifying purposes, lol.

Wow! You have been busy! Every time I sit down to knit or quilt, one of the kiddos wants to crawl in my lap or mess with my machine. I suspect I won't be able to really get into crafting again until they're all teens...

I used to crochet and knit from the time I was about 9 through my teens. But once I got working, had kids, etc., I never did again until about two years ago. I am glad I got back to it.

Your baby shower gifts look beautiful, I love the teddy bear. So you bought another loom. It seems you are taking pleasure in knitting.

oh the cotton yarn thing, that sounds really neat, and I bet a bathroom done in that would be super cute
