Well, I do have to agree with you. I always tend to avoid conversations like this because most are not very open minded towards others opinions. Everyone will believe what they like, I do not think that it should be such a big deal when it comes down to it. Just a thought.

If you criticize a little bit about religion every body would lost their mind and will tried to prove that your opinion would be positively not right and it would open a big discussion.

So you're a catholic (by birth or by marriage) who doesn't 'go along with 100% of the catholic story'?
I'm kinda like that, in that 'what catholics believe' is not exactly 'what catholics say.' For example, they say "Jesus paid the price for our sins." But what they believe is more like 'whatever sin-debt we owe to God, it's "Paid-in-Full" ... "that Jesus paid it" isn't the point, but our subconscious needs "a scapegoat" to believe that the sin is paid-for' (or something).

That is an interesting set of words but not entirely wrong. My wife once tole me she is a Muslim Atheist, meaning that while she was born Muslim (and that she follows many of the Muslim ways of life (such as not eating pork) she doesn't believe in god/allah.

What's there to be offended by, because you sure aren't wrong. I can tell you that for a fact! xD But here's my theory on why many religious people don't care for other viewpoint be it religious or atheist:"Because they don't have strong convictions themselves." A lot of people don't discover the joys of religious faith, but rather are force-fed this stuff. And how else are these people to think when they look around them and see people who aren't force-fed religion leading happy lives? But that's why they don't wanna hear other viewpoints, because they don't want to be corrupted.

I am an atheist and as such my moral code means that I do not disrespect the views of others even though I may disagree with those views, it also means I will support their right to hold such views as a basic human right. I have found that most atheists that I know have a higher moral code than most religious people I know because for an atheist the moral code applies in all situations.

I'm not religious but I believe in God. My parents are both religious. My mom is not open minded about my beliefs sometimes it's so difficult to talk to her. Religion shouldn't be discussed at all for it could cause disagreements.
