effects of ciprofloxacin

I was diagnosed to have UTI (traces of it was seen in my urinalysis) and the doctor said my blood is already infected. He gave me ciprofloxacin (generic) 500mg 2x a day. The first time i took it, I wasn't able to sleep the whole night. The following day i feel dizzy already due to lack of sleep yet I still didn't able to sleep the folowing night. On that 2nd night I already here tunes that keep on reapeting in my mind. The following next days I hear voices from unknown. I already stopped using the medicine after taking 5 pcs (in 2 1/2 days). I went to my trusted doctor (OB actually) and she gave me sleeping pills. The first night I was able to sleep 4 hours. the following night, the sleeping pills no longer work for me. It took me almost 2 weeks to recover my usual "sound sleep", and that after taking "GINKGO PLUS" from foreverliving products. When I get back to work (after 2 1/2 mos, i became ill after i gave birth), i searched the internet of the side effects of ciprofloxacin. I got shocked! The rare side effects is insomia and halucinations. Before taking the medicine, please inform your doctor about the effects i mentioned.
