Have you smelled the rain?

Up North, rain was just something to be endured. Here in Arizona, it's a bit of an event - especially the first rains of the summer. Right now I'm seeing the lowering clouds, hearing the thunder, and smelling that wet, dusty, water-heavy scent. Tucsonans can usually tell when rain is coming with their noses. (As an aside, I can tell who's been watering their lawns at night, just by the smell.) We've opened the doors and are letting that intoxicating aroma flood through the whole house. The dust has settled and it's cool and wonderful. I love the heat, but I also love wonderful little breaks from it. Now here comes the rain off the gutters - and soon, out will come the lizards and birds. My nose was right!

Your new place is really a nest for you. Again, congrats. I wish I could smell the rain.

It's amazing how much easier it is for me to relax here.

I associate rain with the scent of wet canvas, which I think might be the ozone getting pushed down into our airspace or something

I can smell rain probably because it doesn't rain very often in Southern California.

@Rohvannyn Yes, I have smelled the wetness of the rain and felt it go down my face and on my clothes.
