People still think like that? Feeling Disturbed.

I am feeling really disturbed by something I read over here. There was this discussion about the attitude of husbands towards their working wife.
Someone responded by saying they shouldn't do it since there will be other male co-workers along with them so safety issues are involved.
If that were true then a woman shouldn't even step out of her house because it's not "completely" safe in any sphere of the world. They should not go to school or colleges even.
The person went on to say that working for someone makes you servant. Why to be servant for someone when you are treated like a queen by your husband.
Honey, if working for someone makes you a "servant" pray tell me how is this world going to work? How is this economy going to work? And going by your logic men should also be called "servant" if they are working for someone.Tell me which woman on earth would like her husband to be a servant? Does that mean they should stop working as well?
The person went on and had the audacity to say "if they want to work, work from home".
But what if our line of work doesn't allows us to work from home? Should we just sit at home and just waste our potential and qualifications go into vain? Also do you think a woman is completely safe at home? If yes,you are completely mistaken. And I say that from my personal experience.
It's disheartening to think people still have such narrow minded thinking. Yes I'am a girl and my parents are raising me the same way they are raising my brother. They have spent a lot on my education not for me to sit at home( Of course if that's your choice you can do it, but its not my choice). I work day and night to build my career so that I can be self dependent someday and not only to be someone's wife.
And lastly I or my Parents wont ever agree to a marriage where my spouse won't let me work. Does that means they are less concerned for my safety or they want to see me as a servant? No.
Rational thinking and an open mind will take you a long way in life. If both the spouse are working that only means greater financial stability and hence a better future ahead and nothing else.Of course if the circumstances don't allow, you don't need to work but if there is no solid reason behind I don't see any point in not letting a woman work.

You know there are frustrated and *shallow* people out there, and the person who said working for someone makes you a servant might be one of them.
If you look at it even the president is working for the people, that does not make him/her a servant-

If you live alone in an isolated island, you`ll still be your own servant, serving yourself.

Precisely what I said.Every person in the worls is either directly or indirectly working for someone that doesn't makes them a servant.
You have live alone in an isolated island if you are not willing to be someone's servant.

Some men can never overcome the orthodox views. Conformists they are. Such people are the reason why our country is lagging behind.

Men and women should be equal by now, women has taken the men role and manage the country in some region.
Time will change and the new generation like you and you co-member should play an important role in future. But
sacrifice will be involve...
Men and women should be equal like the wings of a bird, otherwise the bird can't fly high, let the time comes.

Such a time will only come when people are willing to look above their personal prejudices and ego.

if a woman only relies on her husband to be the sole provider, then something happens to him to severely affects that, what then will happen to their family? so it's better for the woman to also know how to earn.

Exactly! But some people proclaim to be more concerned about safety and some other trival issues over protection against such contingencies.
