Thanks. You're right, it doesn't strictly adhere to form/content. It's not a form I've played with since I was a teenager. I loved reading limericks back then.

Good limerick!
I wonder if the cook in an early-start diner has breakfast before he starts work?
Oh to be a short-order cook,
His bleary eyes so often mistook
The waitress's order
Notes on the border
The diner his fist he then shook!

@puddleglum And to be up and coping with all those grumps who have yet to take their first swig of coffee... no, not a short-order cook's life for me, I think.

Thanks! If I were a cook at a place like that, I probably wouldn't want to eat breakfast food. I'd probably have pizza.
Nice verse! One should really sympathize with the cook. It can't be easy to keep up with all those orders.

@pgntwo Yes, people are not at their best in the morning. I'm certainly not!

the cook Fred was much too hot
he ignored for want of colder
so hot cake day was never bought
the waitress name was Holder
Pete he thought it was a real steal
because he lost his break fast times
sitting in a booth begging for a meal
writing on small napkins silly little rhymes

Very nice. Perhaps my coworker should have scribbled on his napkin also. He might have felt more patient then.

Thanks. I shared this with my coworker and he felt better about his breakfast troubles after reading it.

@puddleglum What a shame to have to walk away and leave them.

Thanks! Yes, I'm not sure they were worth it. My coworker didn't think so, he left and told the waitress to cancel the order, since we were supposed to start work at eight.

Thanks! My coworker said he was glad his misfortune inspired me. I told him I hoped the limerick would cheer him up after not getting pancakes.

Thank you, and I agree. There are other places to get breakfast. I think I'll start a petition among my coworkers about this.

Since the nearest farm to this restaurant was probably a good twenty miles away, that would actually explain a lot!

Thanks. Yes, maybe toast and jelly would have been even better.

Definitely. If the menu had a disclaimer like: Allow 30 extra minutes for pancakes, he would have known what to do. Haha

He did! I think he tried to fill up on coffee, but that's no substitute for pancakes.

@puddleglum Oh no. Lots of coffee on an empty stomach will give you indigestion.

@savak03 That is probably the other reason he was in a bad mood that morning.

The cook was new and he apparently saved cooking the pancakes until last. Everyone else got their eggs, biscuits, and everything.
