When a snack is just too loud!

I was feeling peckish. So I decided to do what any "normal" person would do at 4:42am. And that is to get a snack. I wanted ice cream. I was happily skipping to the freezer. ( ok slight exaggeration. I was walking but in my mind I was skipping with excitement. It's the thought that counts. ) But.... There was none left! So I went with chips. But I am being very cautious eating them because I keep thinking the loud crunching sounds are going to wake my dad lol I am in the lounge room and he is fast asleep on the lounge. He often falls asleep there. He has to get up for work in like an hour or so but I still want to make sure he doesn't wake up from my chewing. Not that I am a loud eater. But the chips are extremely crunchy and crispy! I probably look stupid chewing slowly right now. Like a cow chewing on grass in slow motion. It's probably not as loud as I think it is. My teeth are closer to my ears than my dad is to me so lol ya know. Probably just being overly paranoid. Have you ever tried to eat in the quietest way possible? Why? What were you trying to eat?

You probably was more likely to wake up your dad by walking around in the kitchen and closing cabinet doors after getting the chips than you were chewing them. I always try to eat as quietly has I can because I was once told I was a loud eater. I always make sure my mouth is closed when I chew and I don't like sitting too close to anyone when I'm eating for fear they will hear me eating too loudly.

@RichardMeister lol luckily they were on the kitchen counter this time. But yes that would have been even more difficult. Does it feel a bit annoying though to be a bit self conscious whenever you want to eat?

@VivaLaDani13 It is a bit annoying if I go out to eat with someone, although no one else has ever said I was a noisy eater. I live alone so there is no problem at home.

@RichardMeister I think maybe the person who told you probably had a thing about chewing noises that it seemed like a problem to them when really it's probably not as bad as all that. But total bonus you have the place to yourself. Can do whatever the heck ya want without being judge. :)

Hahaha! I'm trying to picture you and the cow in my head. Both of you are cute, by the way. Nope. I haven't tried eating chips at 4:42 am in the morning...

Eating chips can get pretty loud. Even when one tries to chew softly, they still end up being loud, especially when opening the bag. I hope your Dad is getting plenty of sleep.

@Teep11 Oh man opening the bag was a struggle haha. I went down into the hallway to open them but then realised I was standing near my brothers bedroom. So I went into my bedroom and closed the door just to open them! He is still sleeping which is good. He works very long hours so I try to be as quiet as I can when he is sleeping.

Why didn't you take them back to your room? Once I realise something is very 'loud' to eat, I become paranoid about loud chewing noises and it spoils my snack!

@JudyEv That would have been a better idea lol only has been freezing cold in my room and down that way of the house. I wanted to stay in the loungeroom cause the heater was in there. I know what you mean! lol

*scowl* It's a struggle. When I am myLotting through my phone, it can still disturb others. There are no keyboard typing noises. Imagine how much chewing would do. Yeah just put the dishes back in the kitchen (another munchies) at 2:21 am and now Mom is up. lol Struggle I tell you!!!

what a sneaky way to eat . I won't enjoy it much if i keep controlling myself from making a sound if i am eating a crunchy one . The crunch is an appetizer to me.

This is too funny. I can completely relate because I try to hold off eating crunchy things in front of people. Unless of course we're all eating something loud. But I always feel like I'm extra loud chewing. lol

@pinkCardigangirl LOL I am the exact same. The other night when I was with my boyfriend, we were watching some things on YouTube and I started eating an apple but was trying to do it slowly. It was still making a noise and was making me fee so anxious lol
