Throwing Around the Word Bipolar in Relation to the Orlando Shooter

The former wife of the Orlando club shooter described him as "bipolar" in her news interview when she was describing how he had mood swings and was a violent person who beat her. Let's get something straight - whether or not he WAS bipolar, being bipolar doesn't make someone a murderer! There are millions of people in the world who suffer with bipolar disorder who would never hurt a fly. I've struggled with this disease since I was 14 and I'm 31 now. I've never hurt another human being except one time as a teenager when I had to punch someone in self defense. I'm tired of seeing mental illness demonized by the general public and the media. If every person with a mental illness was violent, the entire US would be in chaos. I can't control what the news does, or what every person says...but I beg you guys on here...before you speculate or say a criminal is mentally ill - think about all the people who deal with mental illness on a daily basis who AREN'T criminals

Yeah this is very important for people to understand and emphasize with others. The most disappointing thing what usually most of the people do or act is thinking he/she can harm us instead of understanding the problem and the illness and giving support.

I agree that one shouldn't generalize when such horrible incidents take place. Investigations and studies must be done before one comes to any conclusion as to the cause of such madness.
