Playing Tourists At Home

I have been pretty lazy the last couple of days.
After so much rain, I felt the need to stay outside and enjoy two sunny days.
Yesterday we went back to the small village of Morcote to visit the Scherrer botanical garden.
The park is small, but pleasant, with a steep pathway leading through a rich vegetation of bamboo, palms and hydrangea.
What I have liked most, are the small roads leading to the top of the park. You can see them in my photos.
It has been a pleasant afternoon and I plan to visit more villages close to our home in the next future.
Have you ever played tourists near the place where you live?

You are lucky, we do not have free local travel and this is something that they really should improve. Public transport is very expensive and to have the 50% reduction you even need a special yearly pass that cost $25.00. I wonder where to send a complain.

I have actually made plans to do this next time I am on holiday in August. Visit some local towns.

@garymarsh6 Thank you Gary, the Petite France was among the places we plan to visit. I cannot believe we never visited Alsace, we have lived in Monte-Carlo so many years.

@LadyDuck Colmar and Strasbourg are beautiful places. I have been to Strasbourg many times as some of my family live there. You must go to Petite France in Strasbourg it is right in the centre of the town. You will love Strasbourg!

We often visit parks and local wineries as well. There is much to see close to home.

@ElizabethWallace There is a big covered public parking at the entrance of the village. It has been built last year because parking was a serious problem there.

Define "close". Sometimes I think I have lots close to me too, but then I think about driving for thirty minutes and finding a parking space, sigh.

Yes, we have many times played tourist in the area where we live. We have multiple natural areas around that are so lovely on sunny days and in the Autumn months.

@crazyhorseladycx I have visited several native American Indian tribes during the years, mainly in Arizona and New Mexico. I love to know more about the other cultures.

@Marilynda1225 I love to travel, but the best moment is to be back and sleep in my bed.

I have. We have some cool mining museums here, and I love to go to the diggins, where mountains were washed away during the hydraulic mining era.
When I lived in the Bay Area, I never went to visit China Town or ride the Cable Cars, but I went back a few years later and spent the day doing that touristy stuff. It was fun.

I do not know if it is a glitch or an update. It looks like the system accepts only small sizes for photos actually. If you rescale your photo to a smaller size, it might work.
Have you seen some rare plants in the park ? I like parks. There is a large one not far from home with a few animals and many basins full of gold fishes. It is a perfect place to read a book... when the sun shines.

No, I have not seen rare plants, but they have built several small buildings in different styles from around the world and that was interesting. A small Indian temple, a copy 1:4 of Eretteo, the second temple of the Acropolis of Athens and a local grotto. It was interesting. I will reduce a lot the picture and see if it works.

@AbbyGreenhill We have lost many degrees today, after a strong thunderstorm during the night. We have a warning for late afternoon for severe weather conditions. Let's hope they are wrong.

I think playing tourist at home is a great idea. I've done it a little, but not near enough. Once the June Gloom goes away, I will get out there and have some fun.
