One more thing before I turn in for the night. I hope to do a lot tomorrow, but I'm in no hurry. If I spend an hour sitting by a waterfall then that's what I need to do. And of course, I'll have Johnny Cash music in the car.
#14: There You Go
Wowza. This is a killer love-gone-wrong song. That opening line, "You're gonna break another heart, you're gonna tell another lie," pretty much sums up the unfaithful woman Cash sings about in this song. Backed with Marshall Grant on bass and Luther Perkins on guitar, Cash sings with pain in his voice that indicates he's still remembering the way he's been hurt as well as feeling sorry for the next guy who'll be her victim in love.

Here's a live version from Town Hall Party with an introduction by the great Tex Ritter:

Another Tex Ritter show! I love these vintage clips of Cash. It's fascinating to contrast this young rockabilly era Johnny with the more mature Man in Black. He really didn't do much of his rockabilly era songs in his late career, did he?
