My first experiment since returning from jail

I have my balcony table and chairs sanded down and have started oiling them. This is a part of my Spring ritual, as I mentioned in previous posts. Each year, I try a different oil, just to see which will hold up best against the hot Summer sun.
This year I decided to try Watco Walnut Danish Oil, as a friend had given me some, and it's a product I haven't used that often. I started by doing one of the slats on one of the chairs. It looks good to me, so I think I'll use it on the table and both chairs.
What do you think? Pretty enough?

That looks beautiful, pony! I like the way the wood grain is brought out in that slat.
Good job! That must be the slat your friend sanded down for you!

@TheHorse You're welcome!
That is awfully nice of you to do for him, pony! I was almost sure you would let him stain it if his parents had no objections, but you never can tell.... some people would, others wouldn't.

That is so pretty. I couldn't make a lovely chair like that. I like natural wood color.

It looks good. Hard to identify the kind of wood from the photo. I would guess a variety of oak but I'm not certain.

@TheHorse There are lots of choices. Personally if I made it out of a hardwood I would have chosen maple over oak. I would have preferred a softwood though. Cedar is more rot resistant although Spruce would have been cheaper.

Years ago I knew a man who loved to refinish antique oak pieces, but he always put Watco Danish oil in walnut on them sometimes as many as eleven coats before he put a final coat of paste wax. I have a friend who loves the Watco Teak oil and I have some on hand for a couple of projects I am going to do.

Pretty. A little bit on the light side for my taste but it's your opinion that matters.
