Victory lap for me!

Today I just finished my newest novel, Diplomatic Immunity. It had taken me 10 weeks to do it, which is a world record for me. I did take days off due to fatigue, my cousin coming over, and computer issues. I'm so excited. I ended it with a cliffhanger to link to a future second novel for next spring, Political Asylum, which takes mainly in Canada. I have no ideas for a third novel to close it out. Ask me that next summer.
On Scrivener, my stats are 127, 984 words at 551 pages. That's right in the ballpark that I planned to end it near or around 130 K. I only need to cut 10-15 K this summer for Camp Nano to edit and do some pre-edits next week after a weekend break, before it goes over to my group of betas along with my main bet. Some want it as full ms and others at chapters at a time. And one of them is an editor friend who's willing to read it for free. (I probably can't afford her to help me edit my other ms that needs some line editing.![](/Content/images/emotes/cheering.gif)
My plan is to get it close to ready for Pitch Wars in 8 weeks, (when you submit only first chapter), if not for pg70pit in 3 weeks, (when you have to submit the 69th or 70th page.) So I'll see how far I got this summer. It would be cool to finish it in 10 weeks around early fall for queries, if I don't land an agent and/or pub deal by then for summer.
On another victorious note, I've sent in my 50 page partial I've gotten from that agent at the conferences, two weekends ago. And I also nudged that agent who has my partial R&R, too. I hope to finish my full for Venom and my ever-long Nano ms, Off the Grid, by the 4th of the July.
Stay tuned and cross your fingers! I'll be heading to the editing cave next week! ![](/Content/images/emotes/w00t.gif)

Yes that's why I have 7 beta readers to read it for me. 127 K is too high for a debut novel. The max amount for adult thrillers at 110K, except for fantasy and sci fi, or established authors, that's the exception to the rule. That's why I'm resting it this weekend and doing a pre-edit before I send it out for feedback on Monday.

I wish. I need to get it edited first and publish ready. It's just a rough draft.

Congrats...I've never written a book or anything close - never had a desire. Good luck.
