Day 91
Psalm 91
Psalm 91:1 He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flies by day;
6 Nor for the pestilence that walks in darkness; nor for the destruction that wastes at noonday.
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the Most High, thy habitation;
10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.
Everyone wants to be safe. People go to great lengths to ensure their safety. They get protection for their homes, ensuring against break-ins. They insure their lives and vehicles. Everything people do is to protect them from anyone who would want to harm them.
The psalmist, and though he isn’t named, I believe to be David, showed that when we put our faith and trust in God, God will take care of us better than anything we could do to protect ourselves.
As Christians, we not only have God’s protection from our enemy, Satan, we also have the armor of the Holy Spirit, to protect us from Satan’s fiery darts and temptations.
Isaiah said no weapon could come near us when we put our faith and trust in God.
Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, says the LORD.
Our inheritance is found in Jesus Christ. He is the best insurance policy we could have as it guards our lives against everything Satan can do to us.
No matter how much evil is in the world. Our salvation is secure. Our bodies might die, but our souls will not. Therefore there is nothing anyone can do to us. No traps can be laid, no natural disaster can claim our lives, we are indestructible as long as God is our Father, Jesus is our Savior, and the Holy Spirit directs us down the path we need to go in this life.
However, those who determine evil against God’s people, will see their reward. God will destroy them for coming against all those who call on his name. We have nothing to fear when our hope and faith is in God.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for hiding me under the shadow of your wings. Thank you that I can call on you when I am in trouble and you will deliver me. Help me keep my focus on you and not on what the world will do to me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.

My God is my rock, that is one sentiment I feel acutely
