Every spring I look forward to the beautiful blooms of my shrub roses. I enjoy their beauty and fragrance. Most of all I like the fact that they are super low maintenance. These roses are virtually pest free, need very little water and care but yet they provide the most gorgeous blooms all summer.s When the blooms die I deadhead them which causes them to bloom again later in summer. I am not sure what this type of shrub rose is called.

'tis a beaut! yer most fortunate to've 'em growin' there. i'd a few myself, but they perished with the drought by the 3rd year. sadly what lil water 'twas available (we'd water, jest'd to pick our priorities) the trees're what we saved.

@Freelanzer true, but like i said'n a comment'n another persons discussion - twas my own fault. i longed fer the lushness 'n vibrancy'f the hills'n which i left 'nstead'f embracin' that which grows here naturally. these days i'm e'en somewhat ashamed'f the trees i planted - non-natives 'n a struggle to maintain when the rains fail to grace these lands.

That is too bad when you have to sacrifice some plants because of the drought but these things happen.

You are right about these types of roses being easy-care and low maintenance. I read somewhere that after deadheading the next batch of flowers take 6 weeks to appear but I don't know if this it true or not.

I never checked to see how long they take to bloom after deadheading but I will make note this time.
