I was looking for a good movie to watch on Netflix tonight and found one - The Replacements.
This is a football story about a group of wannabe's, has been's and never were's who were recruited to play football when a football strike began. The coach asked for complete say over who he recruited, no questions asked. So the team got a has been quarterback played by Keanu Reeves, a Japanese Sumo wrestler, a swat cop, a soccer striker from Wales as their kicker, and a prisoner from the Maryland State prison system, and a deaf player. Together this team lead by their coach played by Gene Hackman and the owner who isn't allowed any say in these recruits - Jack Ward, hit the playing field with four games left before the playoffs.
It starts out a bit rough for the new recruits because the regular players aren't thrilled to have Scabs take their place and show the replacement quarterback how they feel about that.
On the playing field things are just as rough for the first game they play, however, after that, things start to pull together and they start playing as a team.
The announcers for all the games in this movie were John Madden and Pat Summerall.
It's a great movie and you find yourself rooting for the underdogs. I gave this movie 5 stars for great acting and story line.
If you like sports movies I think you'll like this one. It has everything, even a little bit of comedy that just keeps a smile on your face throughout.
Thanks for reading.

I'm not into sports either, but I do like movies about them.

One phrase from John Madden that guide me is this: self praise is for losers, stand for something. Always have a class, be humble.
