An unexpected invitation

Our good friends have just come back from Queensland where they picked up a new-to-them BMW motor-bike. They rang to ask if we'd like to see a midday movie in town.
The four of us saw 'Hunt for the Wilder People', a movie about a rebellious teenager and his foster uncle. The movie is listed as adventure, comedy, drama and is set in the beautiful but wild countryside of New Zealand. It is rated PG. It is a wonderful feel-good movie with some great one-liners. The main actors are Sam Neill, who never has a bad film, and Julian Dennison. We thoroughly enjoyed it and could have sat through it again without any trouble.
We had coffee and lemon meringue cake after the movie then came home to red wine and, later, leftover chicken and peach curry. Now, nine hours later, the four of us has set the world to rights and our friends have gone home. We've decided we need to do this more often. It was a great way to spend the better part of a day. What was the last really enjoyable movie that you've seen?

Most of the movies I have seen lately have been about real people and events. Therefore, they were rather poignant. I can't remember their names. Sorry. Glad you had fun. I think a "date day or night" with friends is a great idea.

@JudyEv I used to have friends like that, but the relationship slipped into a one sided one. After awhile, it became unbearable. Glad you have people who "get it". Enjoy.

@JudyEv Such is life. My friends always wanted me to drive to their homes. They were pretty far, and I live alone. Driving by yourself is boring and became a real chore. They almost never, and in some cases never, came to my place.

Sounds like you all had a fun day together! It's nice when you are in good company with friends like that - anything you do with them is just enjoyable. There is a summer movie program out here for kids - where we could see older movies for $1 a person . . . we saw "Goosebumps" which is a kiddie horror movie that we hadn't seen before. The kids enjoyed it and so did I!

Actually , that is one way of having our Me day , going out with your close friends . It relaxes us to the max .
My HS batchmates and i would do that also whenever there is a nice local (Filipino) movie to watch . We like watching those feel good movies that our husband won't like to watch at all .

Paris Has Fallen was rather good, but not very deep

@JudyEv I prefer that, for the most part. I want to sit back and just enjoy

Nothing like good company, a good movie and food. And solving the world's problems, of course. Glad you had a good time.

Not much, except the ones they put in HBO or Star Movies, but that last episode from Game of thrones was more satisfying to me lately. I will just wait for the new movies to air on the cable channels.

That's a good idea. I guess most movies turn up there eventually.

Sometimes good films seem hard to find but perhaps I'm too fussy. :)

It was SO nice. Vince isn't supposed to have sweet stuff so we shared a piece which was a good idea as it was very rich.

Harry and Snowman is on tomorrow but we can't go. Snowman was an Amish plough-horse that was saved from the knackers and went on to win the Triple Crown (USA show-jumping) twice. (I think he won it twice). I must buy the book off Ebay one day.

Your day sounds wonderful and glad you enjoyed your movie. I haven't seen a movie in the theater in years and always wait to see them when they come out on DVD

There is a lot to be said for watching movies in the lounge with your feet up. We probably wouldn't have gone if we hadn't been invited to but we did have a great day.
