Way Outside My Comfort Zone!

Friday was memorable!
A group of geocachers were getting together to tackle a 5 difficulty and 5 terrain cache.
The meeting place was chosen (plenty of parking) and a time was set.
My youngest daughter invit e me and I cleared my calendar to make it possible.
Pictures of other cachers finding the cache were previewed......oh this looks like someplace I'm not going to be comfortable. I was advised to bring sturdy shoes...a hard hat....and a strong flashlight, preferably a headlamp.
We will be with a crowd, so I guess I'll be okay.
The first leg of our search was easy. We walked along the MerrittTrail, beside the Twelve Mile Creek. We found the first cache with coordinates for the second or final cache.
This is where it became challenging. One of the group had the forethought to bring a step stool. This boost d us up enough to crawl into a short tunnel. The tunnel opened up to an wide but shallow expanse, where I could walk along if I was bent over. Soon we had to crawl through another short tunnel, followed by another shallow wide expanse.
We were in the belly of the beast.....the bridge under the 406 (4 lane highway), where it runs along and overtop of the creek. Eventually we found ourselves crawling through yet another tunnel to daylight and fresh air.......oh this was a relief.
The cache was quickly located, signed and returned to it's hiding place.
Now for the return trip.. Knowing in advance the smells, the dust and the complete darkness made it almost harder to go back.
Finally we were through. We all cheered, and headed to our separate homes to log our finds on the website.

That sounds like a fun and bit scary day. Unfortunately my crawling days are over, since I had a knee replacement and can't get on my knees anymore. Enjoy it while you can!! Fun photo!

@Morleyhunt I love that about anyone who is adventuring into unknown places. It looks good on you! I wish I was there but no...

@Morleyhunt Sounds like a fun adventure for a younger person, with my bad knees I can't get down on them and I wouldn't be going into any tunnel since I am claustrophobic.

Since I only consider myself a younger person when I'm out with my father, I'm not sure what you. Insider younger. I was probably the oldest in this group, being 20 years older than the next oldest.

It was fun to do with a crowd. There is safety in numbers.

We had a couple of youngsters clear the path. I was close enough to the back of the pack that the cobwebs were cleared.

How cool is this? I'm sure you felt very happy when you had completed the task.

It was a neat experience. Who would have thought. We were certainly dirty when we went home, even though the photo does not really show the grime.

I've since had a couple of my other children tell me they had been there years ago with their uncle.

Sounds like quite an adventure. There is one hidden under the bridge closest to us on the Tantramar. The gang found it by accident.

It's hard to believe that I like this but never responded as I don't do that generally, unless I needed to leave for work and then forgot to come back upon my return.
I have friends that do geocaching, although I've never done it before. No time in my life right now for that sort of thing. Was that the only way to retrieve the item? I'd have thought there might be easier ways to get to it, but I suppose if there were you wouldn't have had to return in the same way.
Been missing seeing you around the site. Everything going okay in your neck of the woods? I know it's better to live life than while away our time mylotting, but I wanted to make sure you're doing okay.
