Really? Three to One Ratio??

I was looking up some local coverage of the NBA finals on a Cleveland TV station's web site. I saw a note about the forthcoming Republican National Convention, which is being held in the much-maligned "mistake by the lake" in July.
One of the things I saw on the RNC's web site is there will be about 5,000 delegates at the convention.
And approximately 15,000 credentialed media members.
Really???? You need a three-to-one ratio to cover a convention?
Sheesh.

Probably hoping someone will say something outrageous. That's all I can think of.

It's as much a party time vacation for the quote unquote "media" as it is for delegates.

i mean if you consider how many media members go into a single station i think it makes sense, right? for example, i worked filming for a basic local arts show once and was operating a camera for the station. there were 5 other guys videotaping for different angles, a guy at a desk shifting the camera shown on tv, and a guy in charge of lighting on the screen. that is 7 people for one small station and the event had about 200 people at it. This is 5,000 delegates, so that makes 25x the event i am talking about, implying 25x7 for the media per station which equals almost 200 people per station meaning if 100 stations are covering the convention (which is a safe estimate because of the massive impact the convention has on the nation) then we far exceed 15k. maybe im exaggerating a bit, but the point is this is a HUGE event that will have MILLIONS of viewers! they need a ton of media.
